Weather flash!

I don’t know how well this comes through, but it is pouring here, with a lot of thunder, and the temperature is 54 degrees F in Riyadh according to my weather app. I had to turn the heat on in the house – the first time in 13 months here!

This isn’t unusual for this time of year, but every time it rains here, it’s a shock to me. Actually, the embassy has a lot of flooding in its housing because there’s no drainage to speak of, and there are always a lot of traffic accidents due to flash floods and the fact that people don’t have much experience driving in wet conditions.

I'm sure the garden appreciates the rain. That really is quite cool - not much warmer than here.

a refreshing moment it would seem...grand sense of space and depth here...

Good catch of the rain bouncing off the marble. It will probably dry out very quickly. V

I didn't think you would ever have to turn the heating on at all, Helen. Just shows you how our environment is changing! Lovely garden and tile pattern.BV

Rain is probably much needed, but is never good when coming to sudden to much. Gives a new perspective to the picture of that sailship in the desert you published earlier.

It seems strange that rain is an unusual experience!

do enjoy your cooling rain - and don't worry it is quite easy to tell the difference between this wet surface and the usual polished marble
