Wrong turn

A group of Asian tourists (presumably here on business) had climbed to the minaret of this mosque near the UNESCO restoration. They were quickly ushered out. They probably didn’t know it was a mosque or what the rules are, and how would they, since foreign tourism isn’t allowed in this country.

As a matter of interest, it’s 10 a.m. and raining and thundering in Riyadh. The temperature is 59 degrees F (15 degrees C). Usually an abaya is all I need to keep warm, but I think a jacket is called for today when I finally take Sahraa out for a walk! Amazing.

The cool weather sounds like a relief! It seems it would be easy to break cultural norms and laws in Saudia Arabia. Nice capture.
