Table reflections

This is a very small sub-gallery that I have uploaded all at once showing the story of our new dining room table. I invite you to look at a number of the pictures to see how this table came to be!

We had gone to a bazaar at the US military base several months ago where we found an 80-year-old door from Qassim that we really liked. We knew the merchant, Desert Design from Al Khobar in the Eastern Province, who had already made another table for us from a Moroccan window that we were quite happy with, so we decided to buy the door and have them make a dining room table for us. It arrived at our house the other day (weighing 100 kilograms, or over 200 pounds!), and Tim and our cleaning person put it together this morning. The craftsmen did a great job on the table, and we’re very pleased with it, and I think it was a creative and practical way to preserve a bit of Saudi heritage.

I love it! Great idea to have the glass panel inset over the door panel like this. Nice shot of it too. ~V~
