California's Fort Bragg is located four or more hours north of San Francisco, in coastal Mendocino County and is home to the 47 acre Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. Its design features seasonal highlights plus "all year long" botanical displays ranging from coastal winter flowers through spring and summer showy offerings and autumn perennials such as fuchias, dahlias begonias and heather. The half mile walks take one through all of the many stunning plants and blooms to the ocean where winter and spring visitors can enjoy the likes of whale migrations and other more permanent ocean creatures.
