PREPARING FOR FLIGHT.

A set of four images showing the trampoline-type jumping exercises of one of the young Eaglets whilst its sibling looks on. The Eaglet kept up these exercises for what seemed like five to ten minutes.

Top image: Down, feet on nest and wings fully raised.


Airborne, with feet off of nest and wings flapping downward.


Down again, feet on nest and wings rising upward.


Airborne again with wings in full downward swing.

Along the Srait of Juan de Fuca, they get blown downwind when they first take off and can't get back to the nest. Nice series, Hank.
