The Smooth-billed Ani is a large near passerine bird in the cuckoo family. It is a mid-sized species, larger on average than The Groove- billed Ani. The adult is mainly flat black, with a long tail and a deep ridged black bill. Unlike the Groove-billed Ani, it does not have horizontal grooves along the length of its upper mandible.(Wikipedia) See http://www.pbase.com/hankvv/image/159428625 for comparison images.
Anis nests are built communally by several pairs. A number of females lay their eggs in the nest and then share incubation and feeding. Each female can lay up to seven eggs and nests have been found to contain up to 29 eggs. (Wikipedia)
