The bigger and probably the older of the two Owlets left the nest Sunday evening, May 12. A few people saw it fly/flutter from the nest tree to a branch of an adjacent tree. Next morning I found it perched on the ground at the base of a large Pine tree. It sat there for quite some time before walking to some dead trees laying on the ground about 20 meters away. Once there, it hopped on to the large trunk of one of the trees and made its way up one of the sky-ward pointing branches. The above image was taken at this location.
