Five images of a Great Gray hunting its prey. This is one of eight GG Owls that I've photographed/seen so far this winter. There were four in this area, three in an other and one in an other. Others have seen them at other places around Ottawa also. There seems to be a mini irruption of these Owls here this year.This happens every five years or so when the food supply (voles) up north is scarce. It was a major irruption some seven years ago that got me started into wild-life photography. That year they were just everywhere. Most years we see none to a few, perhaps isolated, sightings.
