*=animals and birds in captivity.
During our final few days whilst staying at Steady Brook, in the western part of the island, we experienced several other acts of Newfoundland kindness and hospitality:
Firstly, as my wife was taking a photograph of me standing in front of the welcome sign for Steady Brook, a car stops, a lady gets out and offers to take a picture of the two of us in front of the sign.
Secondly, whilst we were in Corner Brook, we wanted to take our rental car through a car wash. When my wife rolled down her window to ask directions from the driver of the truck parked beside us at a traffic light the driver said, "just let me pull in front of you and follow me". He then led us to a car wash about 10 minutes away. After we got there he stopped to talk to us for about 20 minutes asking where we were from and offering tips on sights to see in the area.
A PLEASANT END TO A WONDERFUL TRIP
