Lapwings seem so special to me. I'm not sure why, but it has always been such a thrill to see them. However, I used to see them much more frequently in the early 70's, and I believe that their numbers have declined greatly since then. In Britain anyway, I didn't see nearly as many as in early days. Nice one!
