discarded scenes #15

I used to do quite a lot of handcoloring of b&w toned images with Marshall oils.
Since I have been shooting digitally, I have been looking for a way to handcolor
ink jet prints. I have tried a few things, but have not been pleased with the results.
I read about a method by Theresa Airey in a book and decided to give it a try. I am
pretty pleased with this one. You use Conte Pastel pencils very softly and then you
sort of soften it in with cotton rolled on a stick. I am doing this image as a donation
to "Art in Bloom" a fund raiser by the University of Kentucky Art Museum.

Thanks for the insight on the technique. I'll have to take a look at Alrey's book. This is beautiful Rene. I like how coloring of the stems and pedals adds depth to the image...
