We hired a Mayan guide for a trek into this rain forest/jungle area, in search of the Howler and Spider monkeys, both quite rare now, and protected.

We were especially blessed to encounter this Howler, in the very late afternoon, as he just started to search for food. A rare sight, as they are black and generally nocturnal, so very hard to spot, unless you know the area well.

We also encountered a family of Spider Monkeys while on the return hike, so we were doubly blessed.
