Starting from the Peralta Trailhead we followed the Bluff Spring trail up "cardiac" hill. Crossing the wash marking Barks Canyon, we continued north on the Bluff Spring trial to the Terrapin trail. The Terrapin trail runs north on the east side of Weavers Needle almost parallel to the Peralta trail (on the west side). After decending from Bluff Saddle heading north on the Terrapin trail, we left the trail to cross a small ridge to enter Needle Canyon. We returned the we we came for an in-and-out hike of about 6 and 3/4 miles.
