Steveston

part of the Fraser River fishing fleet moor here, awaiting an opening which likely won't come ...a drastic reduction of returning salmon, adversely affected by too warm ocean waters, points to a crisis situation

Oh dear, I hope the salmon stocks recover soon...

I think we are at a tipping point. That is scary news. A well composed capture. V

I miss Steveston. Used to go there to photograph along these piers and waterfront but unlikely I'll be going there again anytime soon. I remember the pier with the salmon market vendors on the fishing vessels. So sad that this whole thing is closed! It looks empty which is even sadder for a lovely summers day! Great photo documentation!

une jolie vision de ce petit port ! le réchauffement climatique est une réalité qui entraîne de plus en plus de conséquences malheureuses pour le monde ! v

Interesting shot with all this detail and to see pleasure craft and working boats together like this.
Had no idea about the salmon. They've been having higher than usual catches here of tuna, halibut, opah, swordfish, just to name a few.

beautiful harbour scene, the water in the river seems to be stagnant, not good for the upward movement of the salmons. V

That's a bad sign alright. The climate change is effecting everything. A fine shot, David. V

A nice picture and another story of the consequences of our changing weather conditions.

I really like your harbor images.Down south, Washington and Oregon they are killing sea lions that seem to be feasting on the congregating returning salmon.

What a shame about the salmon, probably not the last effect of the current climate decline.

Not good for the fisherman or the salmon. I like the flowers in the foreground here.

Good shot, but sad situation with the salmon.

A fine capture, but a distressing situation.

A terrific image of these idled fishing boats, David. I was fortunate to see in person the last big spawning run in 2010 on the Adams River.
