morbid

Santa Fe, New Mexico

the skulls of dead cows say a lot about the Southwest's arid conditions, yet there is something a tad morbid about an array of them for sale in a market

Nikkor 18-200mm - 1/250s f/8.0 at 18.0mm iso125 full exif

Folk art. Waste not, want not.

A remarkable collection of skulls and a very nice image of it! V

Morbid indeed, however a great image. VV

Nice to have one hanging on the wall...may be a tad morbid but interesting enough to spark a conversation...V

This has a very strange beauty seeing so many of them.
Very fine work here!

Yes a bit morbid all lined up like that. Such an iconic look though for that area. I remember seeing one displayed on various buildings but never a "herd" lined up like this. Interesting find and photo.

Great image of this unusual display.

Yes, a bit of a morbid display, but nicely captured.

I agree with you. Morbid is the word. Someone in our area has them hanging on a fence hanging like trophy's. No class..

Very morbid. It’s strange the fascination with skulls. Well presented. V

Not sure how large the market is for one of these, but it seems like there are plenty to chose from.

It's more disturbing when you're driving on a back-country Texas road and you see one skull on each fence post... for miles. LOL

Geogia O'Keefe would be mortified!

Interesting shot David! Cow skulls are a lucrative business. If you looked at the prices you would see theses sell for $150. + for small steers and the price just goes up from there. Size matters! I am sure a skull and latter combo will set you back a few more bucks! I do not find it morbid. I have had coyote and sheep skulls and a few other things hanging on my out buildings. I would never buy something like that because it does seem like a waste of money. You can buy these online!

Do you take one home and hang it on the wall ?? (lol) Makes for a fascinating image V

An interesting scene and great find, but I do agree with the title.

I see a couple I would like to buy, very decorative!

Neat find and well captured image David.

Cool find and capture. I can see having one of those grace my garage/shop. Problem is that my lovely wife doesn’t have that same vision.

They certainly have more punch en masse like this. Did you buy one to mount on the front of the Nikonmobile?
Mairéad16-Mar-2019 21:30
Not for the vegetarian.

It's a very southwest and especially Santa Fe type of decoration. Great shot of all these. I have never seen a bunch for sale like this, just in use. I agree, though, that it is morbid. ~BV~
