Kits Point

one must be opportunistic amid the sustained wet weather, and dart out for at least a walk when the rain briefly relents...this is at the dock belonging to the Maritime Museum

'North Star', built in 1935 in San Francisco, is the last of the sailing Arctic cargo ships. She is the only fully rigged ship in Canada. She was used from 1936 to 1961 for transport of the winter’s catch of fur to market, and for transportation of supplies from Aklavik and Tuktoyaktuk to Sachs Harbour on Banks Island, when ice conditions permitted sea navigation

My kind of subject matter. Great perspective and nice detail. Seems small for a fully rigged ship, but then I can imagine sailing in the Arctic requires some specialized design. "V"

I like the rich tones brought about by the weather. The stern is well protected by the coloful fenders.
Helen Betts23-Mar-2018 20:52
Impressive ship and capture, and an interesting history as well. That red really livens up the dreary looking weather.
