scarlet

Adams River, near Chase

for most of their lives, 3-5 years, sockeye salmon are silvery yet blue-tinged in appearance...during their last weeks though, they turn a bright scarlet colour....here another female spawns the next generation

as with the previous image, a circular polarizer was used to reduce glare...in this case, a bit less successfully

Nikon D7000
Nikkor 18-200mm - 1/400s f/8.0 at 135.0mm iso400 full exif

other sizes: small medium large auto

Fascinating shot... the swirl of water and colour blending to form an almost abstract image. Beautiful work. V
