wool

Monument Valley Tribal Park...Utah/Arizona

Tim, the Navajo guide, certainly knew of some fascinating, hard-to-find spots around the area...here a modest petroglyph adorned a cliff face...it seemed that either meat or wool was on the artist's mind

Appears to be an athletic creature too! Fascinating indeed!

I bet it had to do with both. Indians were supposedly known for using all parts of an animal. Wonderful story telling image and very unusual and, of course, very nicely done. ~BV~

Nice one, and goes to show that people have been drawn to sheep for art longer than we may think.

Truly incredible primitive art. Amazing it's lasted so many years. Wonderful capture of it. V.

Fascinating art, well photographed. I fins it interesting how similar it is to art I have seen in places as diverse as Australia and Europe. There is a lot of this in Baja Californium, much it undisturbed and difficult to access. "V"

Great find, nicely captured. Very interesting to see the artist(s) keep the oxide patina to create detail.

I agree Steve - 'come and see my etchings' sounds a good chat up line! On a serious note I really like these sort of artifacts, it really fires up my imagination. Well captured.

Or maybe a young artist trying to impress his girlfriend - with things other than wool and meat on his mind :o)) BV
