Cannon Beach, Oregon

one notable feature of the Oregon coast is the large number of impressive rock formations standing in the ocean near the shore. These are breakaway bits of the continent, separated by erosion from the mainland, and are known as sea-stacks...Haystack Rock, at 235 ft (72m), is an iconic symbol of Cannon Beach. People can reach it easily at low tide, but are not allowed to climb on it so as not to disturb nesting birds
