Short-eared Rock wallaby, Badbong, Petrogale brachyotis

Ubirr, Kakadu National Park

These delightful little creatures are superbly adapted for a life amongst the rocks, where they feed on a horrendously
nutrient-deficient diet of fig leaves (which would have caused serious embarrassment to Adam and Eve had they visited the area).
This female with a pouch young (which is hiding in her pouch) was feeding on a fallen fig leaf at one of the spectacular rock art
galleries at the Ubirr art site in Kakadu. The Short eared rock wallaby is known locally as "Badbong".
