Gehyra pamela

Ubirr, Kakadu, Northern Territory, Australia

This species of gecko is common amongst the sandstone outliers and cliffs of Kakadu National Park, emerging while there is still a
bit of light to forage on rocks and trees in search of insects. This particular gecko was one of several individuals observed feeding
on the sap of a Billy goat plum tree (Terminalia) at Ubirr in Kakadu. One of the perks of being a ranger was that I had to be the last
one out of the site, so I got to see a few of the nocturnal animals emerging. Unfortunately, this included about a billion mosquitos
and potential exposure to encephalitis, Ross River fever and Meningitis.

Great capture of licking the sap. There are many benefits of being a Ranger or similar
:-)
