Sky in water
Bradgate, IA
My wife attended her 30th year class reunion in August of 2005. In preparation, I made a peaceful paddle down the West Fork, Des Moines River from Bradgate to Rutland, using the innovative tow car system (tow your own car, avoid the 12 mile walk). In addition to this scenic view, herons and fawns were seen on the sandbars.
It is not often that the river light is so perfectly reflective. This was one of those occasions. I highly recommend this stretch of river, it is very scenic, but remember to take out on river left before you go over the dam at Rose Mill park. (which has been lovingly restored by the citizens of Rutland, is perfect for camping, and has river access up and down stream of the dam).
