The ultimate shot in the Series and my thanks to all of you . To The Nile Valley Tragics and Dr Michael Birrell who trudged with me from Tanis to Abu Simbel and made all this happen. They put up with hundreds of double beep focus signals from the Panasonic and posed dutifully for The Archive. Their sad faces in the Kalabsha portrait series at Assuan the morning we left are amongst my most poignant.
Magic Horizon and Hamada who flew the Balloon , then the biggest in the Sky at Thebes. The lads at the Nile Valley Hotel near the ferry on the West Bank who took such care of us and made those wonderful sculptures of us out towels, hats, books and booze bottles. Mahommad who took us to meet his family and Khaled who drove the Crocodile no matter what when President Mabarac walked on the waters of The Nile.
Commentators on Rusticana who kept up the pressure, Dr Kent Weeks who found Gourna in the Balloon Series and writes so profoundly on The Valley and of course the irrepressible Lenka Peacock for continuing to keep me accurate whilst cooking Wild Rabbit for Andy. Andie Byrne and Margaret The Eloquent Peasant who picked up the early Balloon work on their Bloggs. There are so
many........but not forgotten..
And of course Kaz for being there on her first visit to Aegypt..
And at last the Mistress Meretseger
