Had we been at all into lateral thinking, we would have long ago wired our next to be introduced Mate, for sound. For over as many years as we have known Alan, he has told stories, jokes, anecdotes and all manner of very, very funny tales, enough to keep any meeting of like minded folk ending up with sore sides from laughter. A trained forensic photographer, Alan's career covered all manner of OZ Industries, with a heavy emphasis on the Electrical and Electronic Industries, indeed becoming Guru on all matters to do with cabling. Harvard figured in the Skipper's career although the only reference he makes to that period is to the fun he had there.
We deliberated at length about the Gallery's name, not wishing to create the precedent of using a family name. A globe trotter in his retirement, our skipper still manages to sail his yacht Phantastic around and beyond Sydney's Harbour. To see his rope work and knot making is to see the product of a master. Pictures will be shown. More importantly, what he doesn't know, he learns. An encyclopaedic knowledge of movies has been acquired by years of lectures provided by a noted and well travelled OZ film critic and writer. Indeed, they continue to this day, nine years since the first lecture........This critic recommended Alan to special eateries in Budapest, Prague and other exotic locales covered by a recent trip. The right sort of friend indeed......
