Ellie rocks!!! We found her on the Internet (the first two photos). She had been rescued by Big Heart Rescue from a home which had neglected her. She was judged to be five years old by the vet. After applying to adopt her and having a home interview, we were approved and brought her home to the island with us on August 1, 2006. She had been in a foster home on the mainland for two months. This was the first of many trips Ellie would make with us, and she was a great traveler.

Based on our experience with Ellie, we would urge anyone who is thinking about bringing a four-legged companion into their family to consider adopting a rescued animal, and of course we recommend an American Eskimo Dog. This gallery is in honour of Ellie's first year with us.

We are into our second year with Ellie now, October 2007, and have added a few photos at a local off-leash dog park. It's a great place for doggie socializing. Last, Ellie's in her Hallowe'en costume! Then we got into trying hats on--enough, says Ellie, time for a nap!

Final update: After eleven wonderful years with Ellie we said our final goodbye to her on August 1, 2017. She is now running through the stars and waiting for us to be with her again, forever, as we all were, when that time comes for each of us.
