My Home Then & Now - Stocker Pond,NH Circa 1970's

Remembering all today & those who gave their lives for this! view map

We built on this pond in the early 60's - a small cottage (and enlarged it in the 80's). About 1970 something Interstate 89 was built, and runs about 1000 feet behind us. We are on the shore at the right - the middle of the three white dots and the interstate curves behind. It is visible at the middle of the picture (which was taken looking northeast from Barton Hill, as it rises about 400 feet above the pond). Now the interstate is getting more noisy, and the salt is causing problems for the pond's well being ....... and so it goes. To get an idea where the pond is located, click on "view map" above. 20 minutes north on I-89 is the junction with I-91, Hanover NH, Dartmouth College, etc.

Quite a location you have there, Fred, despite the freeway noise and salt.
