16mm_FW4e1349_ChiliPepper Colour corrections
1979 Catalina Island Chili Pepper Festival
Julie Wade
PLEASE NOTE – the movie is a lot clearer – these frames were not selected for low motion, which is what you want in frame grabs – I was just testing the colour correction.
There is an interesting story behind this film, and I have no idea what it is ….YET.
I acquired 2 cores of about 1100 feet each of 16mm amateur camera film shot at the 1979 Catalina Island Chili Pepper festival. The film was shot by a lone cameraman looking about.
The film has obviously faded and as you can see needed serious colour correction. Just to prove the point I included a digital camera shot of the actual film on a light table. This camera shot actually looks worse than my “before” images
Help me out here – Who took the film?
Why was it taken, and why were these elements left at a film lab.
These frames are all from the first part of the film, which appear to be a print of raw camera footage, I presume a negative camera film.
The second half however, is a difference film and appears to be a positive camera film, requiring a different set of colour corrections. Perhaps I’ll post some of the first part later.
I should mention, that the later half of this film proves “girls went wild” in public long before the era of video.
Anyone interested in the DVD of this?????
