Mont Valérien

Mount Valérien is situated on a hill west of Paris in the district of Suresnes.
The military fort was the site of the execution of more than one million resistance
fighters and hostages by the Germans during World War II. After the war General
De Gaulle had the monument built. It consists of a large esplanade decorated with
sixteen allegorical bronze reliefs on both sides of the eternal resistance flame
in front of a 12 meter long cross of Lorraine.
