Is it just too pretty here?
Picture perfect paradise,
temperate climate avoiding extremes,
preventing contrast, comparison,
necessity for change.

Do we need more angst
before poetry happens,
before readings sound off
and open mikes open?

Somewhere there are words
aching for audience,
and elsewhere an audience,
separate, ungathered,
waits in hungry silence
for those words.
