Pashupatinath/Katmandu

Upma Bhatagi, a Brahmin lady, 80 years of age, one of the residents of
Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity for the elderly in Briddhashram..

no family or relatives.. she says she is in here waiting to die for the
last 12 years.. happy to live there, a converted Catholic she adds. when
i ask why she changed her religion she says: "i just love people who love
me, this is why.."

a sweet, gentle woman, her eyes haunted me for a long time..

I've seen this so impressive portrait and searched it on TE, couldn't believe I had skipped it... Can't remember better tones and expression for a portrait than... pff... I don't know.... v

It really is like flicking through the pages of Steve McCurry's "Looking east" viewing this shot. In every regard it's prime example of the power of this art. Like McCurry you have a got the colour harmony exactly right. That takes a keen eye and i knowledge of light.
