Pacific Swift and Pacific Grace

Northern Vancouver Island

The Sail and Life Training Society (SALTS) was founded in 1974 and is a registered charity in both Canada and the USA. The Society operates two tall ships, the Pacific Grace and Pacific Swift, and offers sail training to young people ages 13-27 (as well as Day Sails for all ages).

Each year, SALTS mentors over 1700 young people from all walks of life as they learn to sail a tall ship with SALTS School or youth groups participate in five-day voyages to the Gulf Islands each spring and fall. Individual young people join in ten-day summer voyages along the east or west coast of Vancouver Island or a 5-day spring break voyage to the Gulf Islands. Every few years, an offshore voyage is launched to destinations such as the South Pacific, Far East, Australia, or Europe. You can visit their website at http://www.salts.ca/ to find out more about this unique organization.

I love this photo, we have lots of water around this area but never see Tall Ships.

A fine shot of these two schooners tied up. The neutral background works so well and the figures and bird add life. "V"
