Day 12

Oregon Coast

Tue - Aug 18
Neskowin, Or
Weather-foggy with temps in the high 60’s (19-20C)

What? Carl is up at 6:45 for the low tide...I wanted to get some morning light on the area’s famous ‘Ghost Forest’. The 2,000 year old stumpy remains of a forest once consumed by a tsunami. Racine looked out the window, said good luck and went back to sleep.

Two problems: one - must cross a 60 foot wide creek; and two – it was really foggy on the beach. I wasn’t prepared to cross the creek and I couldn’t even see the standing forest through the fog, so I settled for other shots. The fog provided some nice atmosphere and I think I got some good shots. Spider webs are great in the fog and I did manage to shoot three of the stumps from the Ghost Forest.

The remainder of the day was spent doing laundry and finding the necessary parts needed to fix the sewer problem. Laundry went well, but no parts for the sewer.

Lunch was at the 60’s Café next to the Laundromat…one thing they do have here on the Oregon coast is GOOD clam chowder! We also enjoyed the atmosphere (yes we are of the 60’s generation), the music was great and they even had cherry cokes…oh for the good old days.

We saw a major new casino in Lincoln City, Chinook Winds. It had a great view of the surf, and a wonderful play area for the kids to spend some time in while the parents enjoyed other activities in the casino.

Full day…we need some rest. The adventure continues…
