Day 4

Randle, Wa

Mon - Aug 10
Silver Creek, Wa to Randle, Wa.
Weather: cloudy/scattered showers/sun breaks low 70’s (22C)

Up early (7am)…had breakfast and a much needed cup of coffee, then we started breaking camp and got ready to head to our next stop…Randle, Wa. Amazingly all went well and we were packed and ready to go in record time.

We said our good-byes and made arrangements for a get-together on Wed evening with some of the relatives from the interior (commonly known as the dry country, or Eastern Washington).

Off we went to Randle, a few miles to the east…but not far enough to get to the dry country, actually just a bit deeper in the Cascades to insure we will get any moisture that might be in the area, meaning any weather on or near the wet coast. It worked….we found our camp ground, got settled and it started to drizzle. Drizzle…commonly known as ‘miserable precipitation’, or ‘too wet for an unprotected camera, not wet enough for a warm jacket, but enough to fog your glasses’.

That’s ok; we decided to check out Packwood, the next town up the road. There was still off and on rain…we spotted elk here and there, but the lighting wasn’t the best for photo shoots. We located the restaurant where we plan to meet the relatives and discover the next door neighbors (or the city lawn mowing unit) are four young bull elk…the rain stopped, the lighting improved and we took a few photos.

When we reached home we spotted several Cedar Waxwings (birds) next to Gus and we grabbed a few shots of them too. Then it was dinner time, download/sort time and finally time for bed. The adventure continues…
