This is the first time attending this drill and I have to say it was a great drill. I've never seen anything like it. For those that have never been they have a ton of breakers go bombing thru the woods. The breakers make their own roads as they go along taking down any small trees in their path. They also work on their extinguishing techniques as they go thru the course and utilize great teamwork while working in the back of the rig staying alert for low hanging branches. They also have a station to test their winching abilities. A few trucks broke down on the course but I think that would be expected if it were a drill or the real thing.
There were also water supply stations set up. One was from a hydrant. The other filling station was a drafting operation from a portable tank. There was also a chain saw station staffed with an expert logger who is also an area firefighter. He demonstrated the proper way to cut a tree and also showed proper saw maintenance.
Their were also static displays of the Department of Fire Services ISU, a command post from Plymouh County Sheriff's office, Carver's rescue truck and boat and a fire spotting plane.
I would also like to thank Carver C1 and C2 as well as the Plymouth guys for taking for a jaunt thru the woods. See you all next year.
