Today I was very happy to find a pair of Black Woodpeckers by surprise, but I had to be patient.
I posted 4 hours at an old beech, where they have their nest. Every hour, exactly to the minute, one of them came back. They stayed a few minutes inside and left again to return an hour later.
They are very punctual. I am not sure if there are younsters yet, they could still be breeding and relieve eachother.
This weekend I'll return to check if the same one comes out, or the other. I didn't hear any youngsters yet.
This is the female.
In a forest the light conditions are rarely good for a photographer. See my exif.
