I was living in Kameari in the north-east of Tokyo for about one year in 1993/94. I really loved this neighbourhood with its small houses, shops and stray cats ( http://www.pbase.com/ekke/tokyocats ). It was more like living in a village than in a 14 million metropolis. I try to go there at least once every time I come to Tokyo, but meanwhile quite a lot has changed, especially the area around the station has been compeltely reconstructed (=destroyed).
