The diversity of flowering plants is simply astonishing! Logically one can understand that plants adapted to many different environments and evolved over time into the forms seen today. Even so, was so much variation in color, pattern, and shape really necessary? I prefer to think that some higher power was simply having creative fun with the evolution of flowering plants. Or could it be that the plants themselves evolved into so many delightful forms simply so that humans would enjoy their beauty and take care of them!?
