Somehow managing to avoid heavy traffic, we had a relaxing drive in the Silver Bullet, our Lexus GS-400, from our Arizona home to the Disneyland Grand Californian hotel in Anaheim. Along the way, we stopped for house-baked pie at the Wheel Inn, a long-time favorite café in Cabazon, CA. The Wheel Inn is at the site of the Cabazon Dinosaurs, erected by Claude Bell in the late 50's to draw attention to the café. Upon our arrival, we discovered that the Disney Grand Californian really is grand, with its spectacular lobby, well-appointed rooms and friendly, attentive, staff. Disney is all about attention to detail! Mike and Ellen booked a room in a nearby hotel and joined us that evening for a stroll through the Downtown Disney shopping area followed by the nightly Disneyland fireworks show. |
