Thanks guest, they are actually Grey-headed Flying Fox, or Pteropus poliocephalus. They are somewhat of a pest in the Botanic Gardens. - Doug

they are actually fruit bats , from memory there is a sign near those group of trees in the park that tell you what species ecactly
