This is the cupola of the Azap Kapı Mosque. It was built by Sinan for Grand Vezir Sokollu Mehmet Paşa. Maybe because of that I found the name “Sokollu Mehmet Mosque” on maps. It stands on a raised platform like the Rüstem Paşa Mosque across the Golden Horn. It is from 1577-78.
The mosque stands on a difficult position next to the busy road and a bridge across the Golden Horn, but is worth a visit.
Unfortunately I do not have recent digital pictures, and the mosque was being restored and inaccesible last time I saw it.
