Bursa Emir Sultan Camii May 2014 7083.jpg

On the picture: The north side of the congregation hall, with (above the entrance door) the wooden platform were women take place if they want to participate in the common prayer.
The room is 15,20 x 15,20 m large. The complete interior is executed in 19th century late-Ottoman ‘Turkish Baroque’ style, which was influenced by European Neo-Classicism (and more specifically here by the French ‘Nouvel Empire’ style).

Note: The term ‘Turkish Baroque’ is a general one; if necessary, more specific terms can be used: ‘Barok’ (= Neo-Baroque), ‘Rokoko’ (= Neo-Rococo) or ‘Ampir’ (= ‘Nouvel Empire’).
