Shell Ginger (Alpinia speciosa)

This was photographed in cultivation in the Cooktown Botanical Garden. It is not an Australian native; according to a web-site it "occurs in the eastern Himalayas from West Bengal eastwards".

Sure is a colorful and unusual plant. I like the color and how it hangs down. An excellent image. V

What a lovely flower. I wonder if it's a ginger producing plant ? V

What a fine capture of this beautiful plant. It reminds me of something that grows in Okinawa.

Even though not an Australian native, it looks like it's flourishing beautifully in its current environment.
