There is a strip center there, now - probably from the 80s.

My Father Roland Durand was a Chef there in the the late 1950's and went on to own his own
Restaurant, "Ronnie's Steak House" on Bird Road in Miami.

Bought my first mixed drink at the Key Hole. I was 14. Used to buy Boones Farm wine and Schlitz beer at the oasis, which is still there. A Gulf gas station was next to the Key Hole. Key Biscayne and Miami was wide open in the early 70's and us Key Rats were always looking for trouble. The Cove was further south down Crandon, a nice old lady owned it. Sir Pizza was open.

I was there then. There was an Italian restaurant called the Cove, is this where it was?

I played music there in 1974 with my band "SMILE". It was a hang out for the Dolphins after games....Jake Scott drove his motorcycle in the front door one evening. I still remeber the pinball machine right next to the stage! Fun place and good food.

I grew up on the Key and we spent many nights (Dinner) at the HH Lounge. My mom and dad went to the HH and the Hole all the time. Right around the corner from there was "The Mermaid" restaurant. Lots of memories growing up there. Also, can't forget the English Pub and Vernon's Drug Store! Great soda fountain and burgers!

Was this place on the right just as you came into the shopping area of Key Biscayne? There was a red light there?
