We are posing at the Hialeah High Class of 1965 Senior Prom at the Fontainebleau Hotel on Miami Beach. We triple-dated for the prom, using a rented Hertz 1965 Chevy Impala from the airport. Stupid me had to drive since I rented the car instead of sitting in the crowded back seat and smooching. After the prom we had a great dinner at the old South Pacific Restaurant on South Federal Highway (US1) in Hallandale, followed by a game or two of bowling at Palm Springs Lanes which stayed open late for prom night. After a few hours sleep we were off for a day of more fun at Johnson Street beach in Hollywood followed by movies that night.

January 2009: I found a list of the weekend's events in an old high school book that I haven't seen since probably 1965 after I wrote it. Here's the timetable of events as I recorded them:

4:30pm - picked up Chevy Impala from Hertz Rent A Car at MIA

5:30pm - bought film and flash bulbs (great advance planning!)
6:00pm - started dressing
6:35pm - picked up Mary Ann at her home (I'd still be getting ready if this was now) - she lived at least 10 to 15 minutes away depending on traffic

This was a most memorable weekend with great friends and a great girl.
Expenses Log (keep in mind that the minimum wage was $1.25 an hour in 1965 - I can't remember what I made on my Herald route but it was enough plus I mowed front yards for $1 or the whole yard for $2 in awfully sweaty hot humid weather)
$8.50 - tuxedo rental
$1.00 - shoes rental
$17.00* - car rental (see note below)
$11.00 - dinner at the South Pacific
$5.00 - prom tickets
$7.50 - corsage
$3.50 - bowling
$5.00 - food
$4.00 - movies
$5.00 - gifts
$3.50 - miscellaneous expenses
_____
$70.00 - approximate total
*that car rental was expensive because that $17 is slighty below what I pay now, 44 years later, on Priceline sometimes for car rentals from Hertz, Avis, National, Budget, Alamo, etc., plus Hertz demanded a $200 cash deposit on the car since I was under their normal age limit of 21 or 25
