Megan Shaffer was a friend of mine when I attended her parents' nursery school, Shaffers Nursery School, on the beach at Gulfport in 1952 and 1953 when I was 4, 5 and a month after I turned 6 years old. Megan was the third oldest of the four Shaffer daughters and photos of the two of us together in 1953 are in my 1950's gallery at http://www.pbase.com/donboyd/image/101189296 and http://www.pbase.com/donboyd/image/101174427 . My dad and I moved to Miami in August 1953 so I could start first grade at St. Mary's Parochial in Miami and I can't recall if I ever saw Megan again on visits back to St. Petersburg or not. In any event, I found her via numerous Google searches and I called her last year to establish contact with her and she graciously agreed to drive up to Gulfport to have lunch with me and to take photos in front of where Shaffers Nursery School was located from 1950 until 1983.
