Great Northern 274

Garibaldi, OR

This is another old train that we came across in our travels. Per Wikipedia: "This engine is a General Motors Electro-Motive Division F7A that was built in October 1950. It has seen service as Great Northern Railroad # 274, Burlington Northern Railroad # 610, Seattle & North Coast Railroad # 101, a Lewis & Clark Railroad unit, Doyle McCormack/Daylight Locomotives and Machine Works Incorporated # 274, and Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad # 274. It is currently owned by the latter tourist railroad, but it retains an orange-and-black Great Northern paintjob. Color Version: https://pbase.com/image/173070441

Appears imposing and almost intimidating with this POV, like its going to mow me down :o)) Very high impact against that cloud filled sky and monochrome presentation...it looks almost indestructible and timeless...V

A 1950 GM F7(A). Even older than me. Looks like it has been put out to pasture but is it still operational? Nice cropping & mono processing. V!

I like the basic composition. It appears dormant. Th rails don't look shiny from use.
