23-01-04 bamboo

And with that, I'm up to date!

Been a pretty hectic couple of days. What with all the socialising etc.

Aberdeen played Rangers today. All the headlines after the game weren't about the hard fought
encounter, but of the pondlife who had called in to say the Aberdeen fans had racially abused
Marvin Andrews the Rangers centre half, who hails from Trinidad. BBC Scotland, being the non-
partisan bastion of balanced journalism they are, immediately jumped on this and devoted the
remains of the programme to finding out how badly Marvin had been abused. Now, as I've made
clear in the past there is no room for racism anywhere, its something I find abhorrent, but
not one single person interviewd who were at the game - including Marvin himself in his post
match interview - could corroborate it. What a shock.

Thankfully this meant that they (the BBC) didn't have to deal with some of the more obvious issues.
The sectarianism amongst the Rangers fans. This is always put down to a minority, but when there's
4000 of them, 1999 could be classed as a minority. And I would say it was roughly that number who
were giving nazi salutes whilst singing god save the queen this afternoon. Not to mention some of
the other delightful songs we were treated to, alongside the coin throwing.

Don't get me wrong, Aberdeen has its fair share of idiots too. There are a lot of knuckledraggers
our side of the fence too, you only have to look back a couple of years to see an incident involving
our own fans on live TV. But I expect more from the BBC - not just a poorly constructed smoke
and mirrors routine to avoid condemming one half of the old firm.

But I digress, this is of course a bamboo plant (I managed to leave the camera in the car), which
was uplit via a halogen spotlight. The popped nailheads are appearing curtesy of Barratt construction,
and the previous owner, who failed to spot them amongst the other snags!

There are some idiots who like to attach themselves to football teams and spoil it for the rest. The media never helps these situations. Like the shadows in this shot.
