Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge - Loess Bluffs NWR
Squaw Creek NWR was established in 1935 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as a refuge and breeding ground for migratory birds and other wildlife.
The refuge comprises 7,415 acres along the eastern edge of the Missouri River floodplain in northwestern Missouri. This NWR provides several habitats
each supporting various migratory birds and other wildlife. There are 3,400 acres of wetlands, 2,100 acres of grasslands, 1,560 acres of woodlands and
forests, in addition to marshes, open pools, mud flats, cattail marshes, shallow reedy marshes, Squaw Creek and Davis Creek, and croplands.
