Cloud Bridges Stairs

Gyeongju, South Korea view map

The Chong-un-gyo (Blue Cloud Bridge) and the Baek-un-gyo (White Cloud Bridge), National
Treasure No.23, was constructed around 750 A.D. along with the Sok-dan (Stone Platform).
Built in two parts, the lower construction is called Chong-un-gyo, and the upper, Baek-un-gyo.
Here, the staircases are named "bridge" as a means to symbolize "the crossing over to the
yonder shore." It is believed that one enters the Bul-guk-to (Buddha Land), after which this
temple is named, by crossing these two bridges through the Ja-ha-moon (Golden-Purple Gate).
