Parks Avenue Flowstone

Kentucky, US

Parks Avenue is routinely punctuated (in places nearly blocked) by massive flowstone formations. These are generally very old, but no less fascinating. This particular speleothem is completely unsupported along its base. In this image, Curtis Beasley fires a Sylvania Press 25B flashbulb. Secondary fill flash provided by two T-32 electronic flashes, slaved.
